It is important to distinguish between sun induced, nondynamic rhytides and the dynamic, motion associated wrinkles of expression. The dynamic wrinkles of expression are best treated with chemodenervation (eg. Botulinum toxin - Botox), whereas gravity induced furrows and folds are best treated with soft tissue augmentation, followed by a peeling or a resurfacing procedure. Chemical peeling is often used in conjunction with Botox and soft tissue filling agents.
Skin Resurfacing: Resurfacing of the skin can be done using Peels, Microdermabrasion or LASER's. The aim of skin resurfacing is to improve the skin texture, remove minor blemishes and marks, remove the dead skin and rejuvenate it. Bio Peels : are done weekly once to hydrate the sin and provide antioxidants to the skin directly and rejuvenate it. Helpful for dull lusture less skin. Also helpful in smokers skin and before chemical peels.
Microdermabrasion:Dealt with in its separate section
LASER resurfacing: LASER's can be used to burn the superficial layers of the skin and promote collagen production in the dermis to tighten the skin thereby rejuvenating it.
Dermaroller: Also acts by causing micro holes in the dermis of the skin to promote collagen deposition which over a period of time causes the skin quality to improve thereby making the skin more supple and rejuvenated.
