Penile Enhancement
Many men come seeking enhancement of the male genitalia. As with the breast or other areas in the body the enhancement can be done using Penile Implants made of silicone. But these are usually reserved of patients with incompetence with failure to have an erection.
The Silicone prosthesis is inserted into the muscle of the penis to keep it erect to help in intercourse. But it is a procedure fraught with problems if proper care is not taken. The most common being implant fracture because of vigorous sexual activity when it has to be replaced.
Nowadays with regular people asking for enhancements, new approaches have been tried out.
A 1 -1.5” increase in erect state may be possible by a penile lengthening procedure which involves releasing the penis from its bony attachment and advancing it forward. A procedure done with promising results. Done under local anesthesia plus sedation or regional anaesthesia.
The patient is advised strict abstinence for 4-6 weeks from all sexual activity to allow it to heal properly.
Problems:
No major problems are encountered. But care has to be given to allow it to heal properly for the first few weeks. Pain and swelling are common problems with the scar at the base of the penis also a cause for concern in few.
Penis thickening:
Many a times the cause for concern in the girth of the penis rather than the length. In such cases lots of procedures using different materials and flaps from surrounding areas have been tried to increase the girth of the penis.
With fat grafting techniques improving, it is now becoming an interesting and simpler method to improve penile girth with good to fair results with minimal or no side effects.
The risks and problems are as with fat grafting dealt before in section on lipofilling.
